Modi wishes farmers on festival of Nuakhai

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday wished the people a healthy and happy life on the occasion of the farmers’ festival Nuakhai.

In his greetings, Modi said, “The special occasion of Nuakhai is about celebrating the hard work of our farmers. It is due to their efforts that our nation is fed. May this auspicious day bring prosperity and good health for everyone. Nuakhai Juhar!”

Nuakhai or Nawakhai is an agricultural festival celebrated mainly by the people of western Odisha and southern Chhattisgarh in the country. The Nuakhai season is celebrated to mark the arrival of new rice. According to the calendar, it is celebrated on the fifth day of the lunar fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada. (UNI)
