BUDGAM: A team of officers headed by Designated Food Safety Officer (DFSO) Budgam, Yameen Ul Nabi today conducted a special drive for fresh milk and the team lifted about 17 milk samples from the vendors.
The DFSO said that the purpose of the drive was to check the quality of milk being supplied to consumers and such drives shall continue in future as well in the district so that people get quality food items.
The Food Safety Authorities cautioned the shopkeepers and milk sellers to desist from the illegal practices and cooperate with the authorities for ensuring quality food items to the consumers.
The Food Safety team instructed the food business operators to maintain high standards of hygiene, sanitary condition in their premises and sell quality food, keep record of all purchase bills available every time at their premises.
The DFSO instructed the Food business operators not to indulge in any food business without obtaining proper registration/ licence failing which action under Food Safety and Standards Act will be initiated against defaulters which can lead to closure of the facility.
The authorities have also sought cooperation from the general masses and have asked for feedback regarding the supply of substandard consumable goods so that requisite action under law can be taken to curb such trade practices.
