COVID-19: 21 patients die, 1,218 more test positive in J&K

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Friday recorded 1,218 fresh cases of deadly virus on Friday, taking the toll of positive cases to 69,832 in the Union Territory while as the pandemic claimed 21 more lives pushing the death toll up to 1105.

Of the total 69,832 cases, 43,718 are from Kashmir and 26,114 from Jammu division. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 1,218 new cases, 576 belong to Kashmir division while as 642 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 43,718 including 34,757 recoveries and 811 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 26,114 including 14,800 recoveries and 294 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 19,170 including 8,150 from Kashmir division and 11,020 from Jammu division.

With 1,478 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 49,557 which is 70.96 percent of the total cases and was over 78 percent over three weeks back.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 224 from Srinagar, 61 from Budgam, 64 from Baramulla, 51 from Pulwama, 36 from Anantnag, 26 from Bandipora, 31 from Kupwara, 53 from Ganderbal, 05 from Kulgam and 25 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 642 from Jammu division include 240 from Jammu, 44 from Rajouri, 60 from Udhampur, 39 from Kathua, 61 from Doda, 30 from Samba, 51 from Poonch, 48 from Ramban, 14 from Reasi and 55 from Kishtiwar,” officials disclosed.

Notably, in the last 24 hours, 21 persons who were tested positive for COVID-19 have died which include ten from Kashmir division and 11 from Jammu division.

As per media bulletin, patients who have died include four from Srinagar, three from Pulwama and one each from Kupwara, Ganderbal and Shopian in Kashmir division while as 11 from Jammu division include five from Jammu district, two from Udhampur and one each from Kuthua, Doda, Samba and Poonch

As per officials figures, 14,025 positive cases including 277 deaths and 11,561 recoveries are from Srinagar, 4,656 including 80 deaths and 3,239 recoveries are from Budgam, 4,169 including 2,831 recoveries and 121 deaths are from Baramulla, 3,759 including 3,201 recoveries and 67 deaths are from Pulwama, 3,416 including 62 deaths and 2,936 recoveries are from Anantnag, 3,300 including 2,532 recoveries and 34 deaths are from Bandipora, 3,377 cases including 2,474 and 65 deaths are from Kupwara, 2,793 including 2,145 recoveries and 27 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,229 including 2,056 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Kulgam and 1,995 including 1,782 recoveries and 31 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 11,387 including 6,901 recoveries and 159 deaths are from Jammu district, 2,401 including 1056 recoveries and 30 deaths are from Rajouri, 2,048 including 1,491 recoveries and 12 deaths are from Udhampur, 1,893 including 1,275 recoveries and 20 deaths are from Kathua, 2,019 including 788 recoveries and 25 deaths are from Doda, 1,606 including 756 recoveries and 19 deaths are from Samba, 1,606 including 657 recoveries and 10 deaths are from Poonch, 1,257 including 799 recoveries and 08 deaths are from Ramban, 845 including 530 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Reasi and 1,052 including 547 recoveries and 06 deaths are from Kishtwar.

As per the daily information bulletin, 561,149 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 14,482 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 19,170 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 477,640 persons have completed surveillance period and 48,752 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 1,513,224 samples are available.

Out of 1,513,224 the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,443,392 while 69,832 have tested positive, among them 19,170 are active, 49,557 persons have recovered and 1,105 persons have died—(KNO)
