Dir horticulture visits Anantnag inspects various units

Srinagar: Director Horticulture Kashmir on Sunday visited District Anantnag to inspect various units established under Post Harvest Management viz Pack Houses, low cost preservation units, C.A.Stores.
According to reports, he was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officer Anantnag. During the interaction with the Entrepreneurs, Director Horticulture Aijaz Ahmad emphasized on all stakeholders to rationalize the rates for the benefit of fruit growers and to ensure the running of C.A.Stores as per required SOP.
He also visited Fruit Preservation Centre Achabal Anantnag and instructed Manager Cum Chemist to conduct training courses in the art of fruit and vegetable preservation so that the local youths may establish their own ventures for which financial support is being provided by the Department.
Director Horticulture visited various Departmental nurseries and issued strict instructions to Chief Horticulture officer to develop the mother orchards of different varieties in these nurseries and multiply latest high quality root stocks. Director Horticulture took a detailed stock of high density plantation programme as an activity to increase the returns manifold. Directions were also passed for providing technical knowhow to growers on various aspects of fruit growing. Chief Horticulture officer was directed to guide fruit growers about scientific harvesting/grading. Director Horticulture also visited various medium density orchards in the area as well as other components viz vermi compost units, Bore/tube wells, water storage tanks, Low cost Poly Green Houses etc.
During interaction, Director Horticulture stressed upon the farmers to avail benefits of all developmental schemes under implementation by the Department. Farmers were also advised to switch over to new high density plantation programme so as to harvest the full potential of production. The officers/officials were instructed to remain punctual in performing the Government duties and maintain a close liaison with the growers/orchardists.
