Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday suspended a senior KAS officer pending enquiry into his conduct.
“Pending enquiry into his conduct, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, KAS, Managing Director, J&K SC, ST and OBC Development Corporation, is hereby placed under suspension, with immediate effect in terms of Rule 31 of Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956,” reads a government order issued here.
“During the period of his suspension, he shall remain attached with the General Administration Department,” the order added. Sources told GNS that a number of officers who have cases pending against them before anti-graft bodies are being suspended till completion of the inquiry against them.
Last week, the administration suspended two senior officials pending an inquiry into their conduct in a case pertaining to Rs 250-crore bank fraud.
The officers suspended include Mujib-ur-Rehman Ghassi (KAS0, Special Secretary to the Government, Industries and Commerce Department, and Ashiq Hussian, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies J-K, pending an inquiry against them, they said.
The officials said Ghassi will remain attached with the GAD during the period of his suspension, while Hussain shall remain attached in the office of the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir. (GNS)
