Death toll mounts to 1,181 deaths; 1,355 more recover in UT
Srinagar: The dreaded virus Wednesday claimed 17 more lives taking the number of people who died of pandemic so far to 1181 in the Union Territory while 975 fresh positive cases took the total tally to over 75000.
The exact number of Covid cases in the UT are 75070. Of the total 75,075 cases, 45,799 are from Kashmir and 29,271 from Jammu division. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 975 new cases, 407 belong to Kashmir division while as 568 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 45,799 including 37,885 recoveries and 839 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 29,271 including 18,987 recoveries and 342 deaths.
The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 17,017 including 7,075 from Kashmir division and 9,940 from Jammu division.
With 1,355 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 56,872 which is 75.76 percent of the total cases.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 173 from Srinagar, 48 from Budgam, 53 from Baramulla, 33 from A Pulwama, 16 from Anantnag, 15 from Bandipora, 38 from Kupwara, 23 from Ganderbal, 06 from Kulgam and 02 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 568 from Jammu division include 353 from Jammu, 27 from Rajouri, 41 from Udhampur, 12 from Kathua, 18 from Doda, 24 from Samba, 27 from Poonch, 12 from Ramban, 19 from Reasi and 35 from Kishtiwar,” officials disclosed.
Notably, in the last 24 hours, 17 persons who were tested positive for COVID-19 have died which include 06 from Kashmir division and 11 from Jammu division.
As per media bulletin, patients who have died include three from Srinagar, two from Anantnag and one from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 11 from Jammu division include four from Jammu district, three from Poonch and one each from Rajouri, Kuthua, Doda.
As per officials figures, 14,882 positive cases including 292 deaths and 12,285 recoveries are from Srinagar, 4,871 including 82 deaths and 3,867 recoveries are from Budgam, 4,388 including 2,948 recoveries and 124 deaths are from Baramulla, 3,942 including 3,447 recoveries and 68 deaths are from Pulwama, 3,519 including 65 deaths and 3,021 recoveries are from Anantnag, 3,400 including 2,870 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Bandipora, 3,613 cases including 2,811 and 67 deaths are from Kupwara, 2,891 including 2,497 recoveries and 29 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,266 including 2,112 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,027 including 1,818 recoveries and 32 deaths are from Shopian.
In Jammu division, 13,015 including 9,457 recoveries and 184 deaths are from Jammu district, 2,653 including 1,288 recoveries and 32 deaths are from Rajouri, 2,253 including 1,706 recoveries and 18 deaths are from Udhampur, 2,063 including 1,553 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Kathua, 2,211 including 1,112 recoveries and 28 deaths are from Doda, 1,762 including 949 recoveries and 20 deaths are from Samba, 1,774 including 817 recoveries and 15 deaths are from Poonch, 1,335 including 868 recoveries and 10 deaths are from Ramban, 964 including 559 recoveries and 06 deaths are from Reasi and 1,241 including 678 recoveries and 07 deaths are from Kishtwar.
As per the daily information bulletin, 576,398 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 15,423persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 17,017 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 492,202 persons have completed surveillance period and 50,575 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 1,622,775 samples are available.
Out of 1,622,775 the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,547,705 while 75,070 have tested positive, among them 17,017 are active, 56,872 persons have recovered and 1,181 persons have died—(KNO)
