LG pays tributes to Jaitley, says his contribution to development of India will be remembered

Srinagar: Paying tribute to former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on his death anniversary, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that his outstanding contributions to the development and progress of the country will always be remembered.

The LG said that Jaitley was a distinguished parliamentarian, statesman, economic reformist and excellent orator.

“My sincere tributes to Shri Arun Jaitley Ji, on his punyatithi. A distinguished parliamentarian, statesman, economic reformist & excellent orator, he will always be remembered for his selfless service and outstanding contributions to the development and progress of the country,” Mr Sinha wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

Jaitley died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on August 24, 2019, over complaints of breathlessness.

Jaitley had served as defense minister as well as finance minister at different times during the first government of Narendra Modi from 2014 to 2019. However, amid failing health, he had requested to be left out of the Cabinet, following the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
