DHSK observes World Heart Day across Kashmir hospitals

Srinagar: Directorate of Health Services Kashmir on Wednesday celebrated the World Heart Day across hospitals and emphasis was laid on healthy lifestyle to prevent cardiovascular diseases which is a major killer in the world.
Following World Heart Day special programs were held across hospitals of Kashmir division. The theme of this year is “Use Heart to connect”.
In his message Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather said the healthcare crisis we’ve all been living through has highlighted an urgent need to find different and innovative ways to connect people to heart health, particularly in lower resource areas and communities.
“Harnessing the power of digital health to improve awareness, prevention and management of CVD globally is the goal for Word Heart Day,” he said.
The director said “Use Heart to connect” is about using your knowledge, compassion and influence to make sure you, your loved ones and the communities you’re part of have the best chance to live heart-healthy lives.
“It’s about connecting with our own hearts, making sure we’re fuelling and nurturing them as best we can, and using the power of digital to connect every heart, everywhere,” he said.
Similarly, the day was also celebrated at JLNM hospital where Dr Kaisar Habib, senior interventional cardiologist stressed about the importance of keeping the heart fit as it’s one of the most important organs in our body.
The doctors at JLNM hospital unanimously called for maintaining a balanced lifestyle, and in light of the pandemic urging public, particularly the youth, to take care of their heart health.
