BJP Chief Nadda begins election campaign in Manipur

Imphal:  BJP president JP Nadda today kicked off the party’s election campaign for Manipur, saying this is the time for innovation, expansion of infrastructure, connectivity in the

country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made our country a global player.

Addressing a mammoth gathering at SAI ground, Utlou, Bishnpur district, Nadda said, ‘ we should remember that prior to BJP’s coming to power traders were suffering, there was poor connectivity. After BJP came to power, work for roads, bridges and railways started in full swing. He said over 11 crore toilets were constructed including 2.70 lakh in Manipur . Women have been empowered and they need not wait for darkness to respond to nature’s call, he added.

The government has provided Rs 42 crore in Jan Dhan accounts, including 10 lakh accounts in Manipur by depositing Rs 500 directly. Women had to wake up early to go out and search for firewood to cook food and now 8 cr new LPG connections, including 1.56 lakh from Manipur were given. In the state 3 lakh LED bulbs were provided to save electricity, he said.

In the entire country 2.8 cr new election connections, including one lakh from Manipur were provided. Under Ayushman Bharat, the poor who could not get proper medical facilities in the state, CMHT was implemented to reach out to the people who were not covered by the scheme, he said. Nadda said he came to provide the report card of the government, to unite people not to

make people fight among themselves.

He said Manipur is a religious place where there are temples of

Radha, Krishna, Shiva, Govindajee and also a land of fighter with

large numbers of people taking part in freedom struggle. Manipur was

the Gateway to Independence as the Indian flag was unfurl for the

first time in Manipur. The land of jewels Manipur has become the

Gateway of Atma Nirbhar Bharat he added.

Nadda said he had come for election campaigning earlier but during

those days blockade, strike, instability, abduction, insurgency were

the order of the day. India was procuring vaccines for Polio, leprosy

when the diseases were eradicated in the entire world but now India is

in a different position as within nine months of the outbreak of the

Covid pandemic vaccines were given to the world, he said.

Vaccination of over 100 cr people will be completed within the next

few days he assured. He lauded the contribution by sportspersons for

bringing laurels and he said Manipur has become the destination of

sports.

North east was ignored earlier now it is in the mainstream and

Railway connectivity will be provided by 2023 and works were on 16

highways in the region .

Chief Minister, N Biren Singh said the Union government took the

decision to extend Inner Line Permit (ILP) to safeguard people and tap

water was available to only 4.5 percent family and now it has reached

52 percent he said. He said he is serving the people not his family

and the government has constructed two bridges on the national

highways and ten women markets.

JP Nadda who arrived here today was accorded a warm welcome in the

airport and party workers standing on both sides of the road waved at

him as he proceeded towards the SAI ground to address the gathering.
