Amit Khare appointed as Advisor to the Prime Minister for two years

New Delhi: Former IAS officer of Bihar-Jharkhand cadre Amit Khare has been appointed as Advisor to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The 1985-batch officer from the elite service would be in the rank and scale of Secretary to Government of India.

Khare was Secretary, Higher Education and retired from the service on September 30, 2021. He also served as Secretary in Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry.

“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Amit Khare, IAS (Retd) as Advisor to the Prime Minister in Prime Minister’s Office in the rank and scale of Secretary to Government of India on contract basis as per other usual terms and conditions as are applicable in the case of reemployed officers of Secretary level in Government of India initially for a period of two years or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” said Department of Personnel and Training.
