Srinagar: Militants killed two non-locals in two separate attacks in the Valley on Saturday evening, police said.
A non-local vendor was shot dead by militants in Eidgah area of Srinagar on Saturday evening. The slain was identified as Arvind Kumar, a resident of Bihar.
Sources said suspected militants fired at the non-local street hawker from a point-blank range.
“He was shifted to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead on arrival,” the sources added.
An hour later, another non-local from Uttar Pradesh was critically wounded in south Kashmir’s Pulwama, police added.
They said a non-local Sagir Ahmad was fired upon at a shop in Litter area of Pulwama. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment where his condition is stated to be critical.
He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed during the treatment, according to the police.
“Terrorists fired upon 2 non-local labourers in Srinagar & Pulwama. Arvind Kumar Shah of Banka, Bihar succumbed to injuries in Srinagar and Sagir Ahmad of UP critically injured in Pulwama. Areas have been cordoned & searches started,” police tweeted.
”Non-local labourer Sagir Ahmad of Saharanpur, UP who was critically injured in a terror attack in Pulwama, also succumbed to his injuries. Search operations are in progress. Further details shall follow, police said in another tweet.
The killings took place at a time when security forces have stepped operations across the Valley.
