J&K reserves 15 % non-gazetted posts in police for women

Srinagar: In a significant development, Jammu & Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday approved 15 percent reservation for women in non-gazetted posts of J&K Police.

In a tweet, according to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the office of LG announced that 15 percent of non-gazetted posts in UT’s police have been reserved for women.

“On #NationalGirlChildDay, approved 15% reservation for women in non-gazetted posts of @JmuKmrPolice. This is just the beginning. We are determined and committed to increase it further in the future,” tweeted the LG’s office.

The J&K government also said that it is committed to ensure women’s social and economic empowerment.

“For women and girls to be agents of change, J&K government is committed to ensure Nari Shaktis’ social and economic empowerment while redressing long-standing inequalities to build a more just and resilient society,” the LG’s office tweeted—(KNO)
