Grenade attacks leave a civilian and cop injured in Kashmir

Srinagar:A minority community member and a policeman were wounded in two separate grenade attacks in Kashmir on Monday evening, police said.
The attacks took place in Budgam and Srinagar districts on India’s 76th Independence Day.

Police said militants lobbed a grenade in Gopalpora Chadoora area of Budgam in which one civilian Karan Kumar Singh got injured.

“He has been shifted to Srinagar hospital for treatment where his condition is stated to be stable,” police said, adding the area has been cordoned to trace the attackers.
Within an hour another grenade was lobbed at Police Control Room Kashmir leaving a cop injured.

“Terrorists hurled grenade at Police Control Room Kashmir, resulting in minor injuries to one police personnel,” a police spokesman said.
He said the area has been cordoned off.
There have been four grenade attacks in Kashmir in the past 36 hours. Earlier two grenade attacks were carried out in Srinagar and Kulgam districts respectively in which a Policeman was killed and a CRPF personnel was wounded. There was also a brief gunfight in Srinagar on eve of Independence Day in which a policeman was killed
