NIA opposes bail plea of Jyoti Jagtap

Mumbai: National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday strongly opposed the bail application of activist Jyoti Jagtap, an accused in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case, and also accused her of spreading activities of the banned CPI (Maoist) in urban areas of the state.
The NIA, in its affidavit, claimed that Jagtap was an active member of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) who was spreading activities of the banned “terror group” in urban areas and had undergone training for using weapons and explosives.
The court after taking NIA affidavit on record adjourned the matter for two weeks.
Jagtap, in her plea, denied all the charges levelled against her and said that she was falsely implicated in the case.
