Ex militant turned OGW arrested along with one grenade: Police

Srinagar: Security forces on Sunday claimed to have arrested a former Pakistan trained militant turned Over Ground Worker (OGW) in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara.
Police said in a joint action, Kupwara Police along with Army has arrested an ex-militant turned OGW from Kralpora area of the district along with a grenade.
Police said acting on specific intelligence generated by Kupwara police, a joint checking was established at Main Market Karlpora by Kupwara Police and Army Camp Panzgam.
During the checking, the OGW moving in suspicious circumstances trying to evade the presence of security personnel was apprehended.
The OGW was identified as Rafiq Ahmad Khan, a resident of Waterkhani Drugmulla Kupwara and a One grenade was recovered from his possession, police said.
They said “Rafiq is a surrendered Pakistan trained terrorist who is now working as an OGW for terrorist outfit Hizbul Mujahideen”.
During preliminary investigations, he has revealed that the grenade was received by him from Chogul area of Handwara and was to be delivered to someone in Kralpora area on the instructions of his Pakistan based HM handler to be thrown at security forces, police added.
A case under relevant provisions of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) UA(P) Act has been registered in Police Station Kralpora and investigations taken up, police added.
