PM Modi arrives in Hiroshima to euphoric welcome by Indian community members

New Delhi/Hiroshima (Japan): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday evening arrived in Hiroshima where he will attend the G7 Summit and Quad Leaders’ Meeting. He was greeted by euphoric Indian diaspora members, who were cheering and waving the Indian tricolour.

The PM, who was mobbed for selfies and handshakes by the Indian diaspora members, said in a tweet: “I am grateful to Hiroshima’s Indian community for a memorable welcome to the city.”

In another tweet, the PM said he will be holding bilateral meetings with various world leaders on the sidelines of the G7.

“Landed in Hiroshima to join the G7 Summit proceedings. Will also be having bilateral meetings with various world leaders.”

The MEA spokesperson in a tweet said:

“PM @narendramodi sets foot in the historic city of Hiroshima.

“PM will attend the @G7 Summit under Japan’s presidency at the invitation of PM @kishida230. Besides other bilateral engagements, PM will also participate in the Quad Leaders’ Meeting.”

The White House has said that the Quad Leaders’ Meeting will take place tomorrow in Hiroshima.
