G20 Tourism Working Group meeting will revitalize economy, tourism of J&K

Srinagar: The third G20 Tourism Working Group meeting will help to revitalize the economy and broaden the tourism potential in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Coordinator of the G20 event Harshvardhan Shringla said on Sunday.

Srinagar is all set to host the G20 Tourism Working Group meeting beginning Monday and all preparation have been put in place for the first major international event after J&K’s special status was abrogated in 2019.

Shringla said that this meeting will open the doors of employment opportunities for the people of Jammu and Kashmir who are blessed with natural beauty.

He said the meeting will be helpful and revitalize the economy and broaden the tourism potential in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Srinagar is undergoing massive transformation with fiber cables being laid and massive development is going on a war footing”, Shringla said during a press conference in Srinagar on Sunday. “For the first time, the G20 Meeting is being organized in the northern, southern, eastern and western parts of the country.”

“I am confident that this meeting will prove helpful in revitalizing the economy and tourism prospects of Jammu and Kashmir in a big way,” he said

Shringla said that the arrival of guests for this meeting to be held in Srinagar has started and all arrangements have been put in place to hold this meeting from Monday.

When the coordinator was asked twice about the boycott of the G20 meeting in Srinagar by some countries, he said that the delegates of major countries, including the United States, are participating in this meeting.

He said that international speakers, guests and guests from different parts of the country are participating in this meeting and there will be group discussions during the meeting.

The coordinator said that the G20 meeting in Srinagar is of extraordinary importance as it will give a lot of boost to the tourism here.

He said that this meeting will boost the tourism sector of Jammu and Kashmir at the international level and this is a welcome development that Srinagar is hosting the G20 meeting.

Shringla said that the Jammu and Kashmir administration has made good preparations regarding the G20 Tourism Working Group meeting here and this meeting will boost film tourism and eco-tourism here also.

The coordinator said that a year before the G20 meeting, they had started the preparations,

“The condition of Srinagar then was different and today when we reached Srinagar, many works have been done here under the Srinagar Smart City project which made the city of Srinagar look more beautiful,” he said

He said that the work done by the senior officials associated with the administration to make the historic meeting of G20 a success is commendable.

“The meeting of G20 in Srinagar is a historic initiative and will bring many benefits to the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, he added.
