Shopkeeper arrested for illegally selling petroleum products on exorbitant rates in Uri: Police

Srinagar : Police on Sunday said that it has arrested a shopkeeper for being involved in selling of petroleum products on exorbitant rates at Uri.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that aPolice party led by SHO Police Station Uri under the supervision of SDPO Uri Shokat Ali, arrested a shopkeeper identified as Ajaz Ahmad Awan S/o Bashir Ahmad Awan R/o Salamabad Uri for his involvement in selling of Petroleum products on exorbitant rates at his shop at Salamabad Uri, adding therein that 1020 litres of Diesel from was also recovered from his shop following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that police has accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Uri and initiated an investigation into the case, Police
in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement aid that the people of the area hailed the efforts undertaken by it for quick and vigilant action against such persons. Police in it’s statement also resolved to act tough against the people involved in criminal activities.
