Vehicle of drug smuggler attached in Baramulla: Police

Srinagar: Acting tough against the drug smugglers and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police on Tuesday said to have attached a vehicle (Maruti Car) of drug smuggler worth 60k at Mirgund Pattan in District Baramulla.

Baramulla Police led by IC PP Mirgund under the overall supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz attached a vehicle (Private Maruti Car) bearing registration number JK03B-1977 worth 60K (approx) belonging to drug smuggler namely Gh Mohammad Dar son of Ab Rehman Dar resident of Mirgund Pattan after completing all legal formalities, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

The said vehicle was linked to a case under FIR number 132/2023 of Police Station Pattan. The investigation proved that the said movable property was raised from Illicit Trafficking by the drug smuggler.

It is pertinent to mention here that previously Baramulla Police has attached properties worth 68.05 lacs of drug smugglers which includes 2 houses, 2 vehicles & cash to the tune of Rs. 41.72 lacs in Pattan, Kreeri & Kamalkote. Besides, SAFEM (FOP) A & NDPSA, New Delhi confirmed attachment of property (Illegal acquired property by drug smugglers) orders of Baramulla Police at Pattan & Kreeri in which house and vehicle was attached, police said.

People showed their willingness to support police to eradicate menace of drugs from the society which is the real sign of Police Public relationship, the statement said.

“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said—(KNO)
