Cal HC dismisses Suvendu Adhikari’s PIL seeking CBI, NIA probe in Duttapukur blast

Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday dismissed two PILs (Public Interest Litigation) seeking CBI and NIA probeinto the blast on Sunday at Duttapur in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, which took the lives of nine people.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice T S Sivagnanam and JusticeHiranmay Bhattacharya while dismissing the PILs, said the state

government has already taken up the issue and now it will continue the probe.

Leader of the opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari and BJP legislator Rajhashi Lahiri filed the PILs on Monday and sought CBI and NIA probe into the blast of the illegal firecracker factory, which housed in a two-storied building in highly populated Moshpal village under Duttapukur police station limit, some 35 kms northeast of this city.

The impact of the blast flattened the building and badly damaged three-four buildings in the vicinity killing nine persons and wounding six others. The NIA officials have already visited the site of the explosion, the government counsels informed the court.

The police have already arrested one suspect in relation to the blast and another suspect was evading the arrest, an officer said

Meanwhile, Duttapukur Police Station IC Shuvabrata Ghosh and OC of the Nilgunj police outpost OC Himadri Dogra. UNI
