New Delhi: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested five persons including an Executive Director(Projects), and CGM of Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) in an alleged bribery.
A case was registered against an Executive Director (Projects) GAIL posted at Noida in Uttar Pradesh, and a private company based at Vadodara and its Director, a CGM of GAIL, and two private persons, resident of Delhi and Jhajjar (Haryana) and unknown others on the allegations that the Executive Director(Projects) in conspiracy with others was extending undue favour in connection with two projects of GAIL. It was further alleged that the Director of said private company had arranged alleged bribe amount of Rs 50 lakh, through two private persons, CBI said in a statement.
It was also alleged that the bribe of Rs 50 lakh would be delivered to said public servant by the private person, it said.
CBI laid a trap and apprehended two persons after delivery of the alleged bribe by the said private person to the public servant. The alleged bribe of Rs 50 lakh was recovered from ED (Projects), the statement said.
Searches were conducted at the premises of accused including at Delhi, Noida, Visakhapatnam and Vadodara which led to recovery of incriminating documents and digital evidences, it added.
