Putin urges Russians to vote in regional elections

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday urged residents of the Russian regions where a single voting day is ongoing to vote in the elections, while noting the convenience of the voting process.
“I ask residents of the regions where elections are being held these days to participate, especially given that the election procedures in our country are organized as conveniently as possible,” Putin said in a televised address.
The Russian leader noted the possibility for citizens to vote from home via an online system, saying that more and more people were trusting the option.
“I hope that each of you will show responsible civic position,” Putin added.
Elections are being held in most regions of Russia from September 8-10. The voting is designed to elect top officials in 21 subjects of the country and members of the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, for four vacant places in single-member constituencies. The elections are taking place in the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics, as well as in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions as well.
