Nearly 300 people were in Turkish mine during its collapse

Ankara:  Nearly 300 people were in a mine in northern Turkey during its collapse on Wednesday, Zonguldak Province governor Osman Hacibektasoglu said.
Earlier in the day, media reported that the mine collapse in Zonguldak killed one person.
“There are 280 people inside, 4 people were injured. One escaped alive. One person was seriously injured. The voices of two people were heard. A group of 75 people started the rescue operation,” the governor said, as quoted by the A Haber broadcaster.
Later in the day, the broadcaster said that only 14 people were under the rubble, according to preliminary data, and that the victim’s body was found in the mine.
The Turkish Energy Ministry confirmed that one worker had died as a result of the collapse.
