Jammu: President Droupadi Murmu, who was on two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday offered prayers at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine located in Trikuta Hills of Katra town in Reasi district.
The President also inaugurated a skywalk and the remodelled Parvati Bhavan at the Bhawan.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also accompanied the President.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Chief Executive Officer, Anshul Garg briefed Murmu about a 200-metre skywalk that will separately facilitate entry and exit of pilgrims to cater to the rush.
The project is completed at a cost of over Rs 9.89 crore.
Notably, in 2022 on the eve of New Year, 12 people were and 16 were injured due to a stampede.
This year till the month of September, more than 73 lakh pilgrims had paid obeisance at the sanctorum sanctum and the yatra is expected to be close at around one crore figure.
