Three-day event to witness 150 archers in action during UT level C’ship at Jammu

Jammu: As many as 150 archers will be seen in action during three days Jammu and Kashmir UT level championship commenced here at Green Field Sports Ground.
The championship is being organised by Archery Association of J&K under the aegis of J&K Sports Council and Archery Association of India.
Shaheen SP South Jammu was the chief guest on opening ceremony while K D Bhagat DySP and Rajeev Sharma Member J&K Sports Council were the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion chief guest lauded the efforts of Archery Association of J&K for organising the championship in very coordial atmosphere.
About 150 Archer from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir are participating in the competition.
Archers from Jammu and Kashmir Police and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Katra are also taking part in championship was conducted in recurve, compound and Indian round under the age category of under-9, Sub Junior, Youth and Senior category.
The prominent citizens along with other officials of different sports associations were present on the occasion.
Vikram Thakur President and Sunil Sharma secretary general Archery Association of J&K briefed the gathering and also highlighted the journey of Para archers Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar who recently won gold and Silver medal in Archery Para Asian games.
The duo are expected to be the highlight of the show at the closing ceremony on November 7.
