SKUAST-K holds three entrepreneurship programs in Ang, B’gam distts

Srinagar : Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir organised two entrepreneurship awareness programs in Anantnag and Budgam districts today. While a weeklong Existing-MDP on Trichoderma – A biofertilizer and bio-fungicide for sustainable organic vegetable production for youth of Qazibagh, concluded at the KVK Budgam campus.
The awareness programs were organised by SKUAST-K’s Krishi Vikas Kendras of Anantnag and Budgam districts under the sponsorship of the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in collaboration with the local partners. KVK Budgam conducted a daylong program in collaboration with the National Rural Livelihood Mission, Block Budgam on ‘Scientific Processing of Fruits through Beverage Making’ for farmers, unemployed youth and entrepreneurs of Soibugh Cluster at its campus. A team of scientists led by the Head KVK, Budgam delved in detail about various food processing opportunities for entrepreneurship and walked them through the process required to establish agri-business ventures in the sector.
KVK Anantnag organised an awareness program on ‘Entrepreneurial Opportunities in Canopy Management in Apple with special Reference to Modern High-Density Orchards” for entrepreneurship development. Dr Ishtiyaq A Khan, training coordinator and Head, KVK Anantnag underscored the importance of instilling an entrepreneurial spirit among the youth. He delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting entrepreneurship opportunities in the horticultural sector, showcasing successful entrepreneurs nurtured by the Kendra.
During the week-long training programme, on Trichoderma – A biofertilizer and bio-fungicide for sustainable organic vegetable production the trainees were imparted instructions in the cultivation of organic vegetables by the use of Trichoderma as biofertiliser and bioagent. Dr Vaseem Yousuf, the training coordinator, stressed the importance of this training, which lies in the fact that with green agricultural development, people are seeking safe, effective and environmentally friendly disease control measures.
