Will you contest election: PM Modi asks female beneficiary in Kashi

Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday took everyone by surprise when he asked a female beneficiary if she would contest the election.

While interacting with the beneficiaries during Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra held at Barki Gram Sabha in the Sewapuri block of Varanasi, PM Modi posed this query to Chanda Devi, a beneficiary, while while she was sharing her experiences with the audience during the ‘Meri Kahani, Meri Zubani’ programme.

Impressed by Chanda Devi’s confidence and eloquence, the PM asked her about her educational background. Chanda Devi stated that she has completed her intermediate studies.

Responding to this, he inquired if she had contested elections before, given her excellent public speaking skills to which Chanda Devi denied any previous election experience. Following this, he directly asked Chanda Devi whether she would contest the elections.

Chanda Devi replied that she won’t contest elections, but she is impressed by him.

She expressed her gratitude to the PM and said that she was fortunate to be given a chance to speak before him. She said that she wishes to be part of the developmental efforts initiated by him.

The PM also inquired about the education of her children and how she maintains a balance between work and family.
