2 Hezbollah fighters killed, journalist injured in confrontations on Lebanon-Israel border

Beirut:Two Hezbollah fighters were killed, and a photojournalist working for the Hezbollah-owned Al-Manar TV was wounded on Saturday in confrontations between Hezbollah and Israeli forces, said Lebanese military sources.

The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the casualties resulted from Israeli heavy artillery targeting at least 14 border villages and towns in southern Lebanon, in addition to ten raids by Israeli warplanes on a number of villages and towns in the border area.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah said its fighters carried out a series of attacks on Israeli sites, including Bayad Blida, Shumira barracks, and the Al-Abad.

The Lebanese militant group indicated that it used highly explosive Burkan missiles in several attacks this afternoon.

The Lebanon-Israel border witnessed increased tension since Oct. 8 after Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets toward Israel in support of the Hamas attack on Israel the previous day, prompting Israel to respond by firing heavy artillery toward southeastern Lebanon.

The confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel have killed 174 on the Lebanese side, including 123 Hezbollah members and 32 civilians, according to Lebanese security sources.
