Cong leader C Raghunath joins BJP

Kannur: District Congress Committee (DCC) General secretary and Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) member C Raghunath, who quits the Congress party on December 8, in the wake of internal feud , joined BJP in a function held at New Delhi, on Sunday.
Mr C Raghunath, who was contested against Kerala Chief minister Pinarayi VIjayan from the Dharmadam Assembly constituency in the 2021 Assembly election as a Indian National Congress (INC) candidate for the United Democratic Front (UDF).
BJP National President J P Nadda gave the membership to C Reghunath and Film director Major Ravi in a function held at BJP headquarters at New Delhi, with the presence of State President K Surendran and District BJP President N Haridas. He reached New Delhi along with BJP leader N Haridas, today, following the direction of K Surendran,who was camping at Delhi.
He resigned Congress on December 8 and writes in his social media (Facebook), citing the neglect of the Congress leadership and has been ignored for a long time and many things are being said within the party, but isolated and suppressed by the party. Following this CPI(M) State and district leaders also interact with C Raghunath to join CPI(M) in the first week of December. He tendered the resignation letter to the KPCC on December 8.
Mr Raghunath, who entered the political field through Kerala Students Union (KSU) students wing of Congress party in 1973 from Brennen College, Thalassery along with the KPCC president K Sudhakaran, MP. He is also said to be one of the close associates of K Sudhakaran in Kannur and has experience as an active political worker of Congress for the five decades , until the last six months. Mr Raghunath told news persons “he personally met Sudhakaran to address the ignorance from the District Congress leaders , but Sudhakaran failed to settle the issue.
The BJP district unit will organize a warm reception to C Raghunath at Kannur railway station on tomorrow, party sources said.
Raghunath is the second congress leader of Kannur district to join BJP, after former MP and MLA A P Abdulla Kutty, now holding the post of National Vice president of BJP.
