New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday announced the names of three candidates from Assam for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
The party named Manoj Dhanowar for Dibrugarh, Dr Bhaben Chaudhary for Guwahati and Rishi Raj Kaundinya for Sonitpur seat.
Addressing the media, AAP General Secretary Sandeep Pathak said, “As Lok Sabha election is nearing, the party is releasing three candidates from Assam. We will begin our preparations with full strength on these three seats and I am confident that INDIA alliance will give all three seats to AAP.”
On INDIA bloc seat sharing, Pathak said, “Talks are underway with INDIA alliance for months. We are tired of talking now. We will be fighting elections not just for contesting but for winning. We stand strongly with the INDIA alliance but our priority is to win the elections.”
“The names of these three candidates have been announced on behalf of AAP and I believe that the INDIA bloc will accept our decision,” he said.
He further said, “For months, discussions have been ongoing with the INDIA alliance and detailed talks have been held on every important state but no conclusion has come up yet. When the talks do not reach any conclusion, then steps have to be taken towards the collective goal, which is to win the elections.”
“Ultimately it’s up to INDIA alliance and Congress to make the decision, but I just want to emphasize that if you want to win the election, you must decide on time. Decisions should be taken on time on all the seats for which negotiations are going on across the country, he added.
