National Guard to drive school buses?

Washington: Amid the surge in Omicron cases and shortage of bus drivers, schools in Maryland, US, have urged the National Guard to drive the district’s school buses.
Montgomery County Public Schools has asked the county officials to urge the state for deployment of the National Guard and have them drive the district’s school buses.
The school system here serves more than 162,000 students and includes 1,400 buses, according to ABC News.
Earlier, the Kansas Board of Education had said to allow people over 18 having high school diploma and can pass a background check can apply to be a substitute teacher.
The officials said the new order will remain in effect till June.
Similarly, the school districts in Palo Alto, California, and Hays County, Texas, have urged parents to fill the teacher shortage caused due to Covid surge.
