Police arrests six drug peddlers with psychotropic substances in Sopore

Srinagar: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested six drug peddlers and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession in Sopore township of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Police said during checking at Ningli Bala Nambal, 6 drug peddlers were boarding in a Santro car were signaled to stop for checking but driver tried to flee and was chased and apprehended.

During the search 888 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon Plus were recovered from their possession and they were arrested on spot. The car was also seized, police said.

The accused have been identified as Muhammad Ibrahim Sofi, Zubair Ahmad Bhat both residents of Aalibagh Hygam, Tanveer Ahmad Sumji alias Pintoo of Sher Colony Sopore, Imran Manzoor Guroo of Khushal Colony Sopore, Arshad Rashid Wani of Izzat Shah Colony Sopore and Shabir Ahmad Bhat Amargarh Sopore.

A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo and investigation taken up, police added.
