J&K to get another wet spell for over 3 days: Met

Srinagar: Meteorological Department has predicted another wet spell across Jammu and Kashmir beginning Monday.

The weatherman predicted mainly dry weather over Jammu and Kashmir till Sunday. However, MeT said a brief spell of rain or thunderstorm at a few places towards late afternoon or evening can’t be ruled out.

The Meteorological Department said “scattered” downpour was likely on Monday, and “widespread” downpour likely from Tuesday in the Kashmir valley.

In Jammu division, the “isolated” rainfall is likely to take place on Monday while “fairly widespread to widespread” rainfall would occur on Tuesday and onwards, MeT said.

“ From May 23 to 25 , there is a possibility of widespread light to moderate rain, thunder, lightning with possibility of hailstorm and gusty winds at few places,” MeT said.

There have been back -to-back wet spells in Kashmir this month.

Last night, Srinagar recorded 9.7-degree Celsius almost two degree below normal temperature. Pahalgam registered 3.6 degree Celsius and ski resort of Gulmarg 4 .8 degree Celsius. Last night, Jammu recorded 22.6 degree Celsius and Leh recorded 1.6-degree Celsius.
