Amit Shah holds massive roadshow in Tejasvi Surya’s support

Bengaluru: In a show of strength ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted a massive roadshow here on Tuesday. The roadshow was organised to bolster the campaign of BJP’s Bengaluru South candidate, Tejasvi Surya.
Accompanied by Surya, the incumbent MP and BJP candidate for the Bengaluru South seat, veteran BJP leader and former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly R Ashoka, and several other party members, Shah traversed through the city streets waving at an enthusiastic crowd.
The roadshow commenced from the Swami Vivekananda Statue at Bommanahalli Circle and culminated at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bengaluru campus on Bannerghatta Road, an area recognised as a BJP stronghold.
Throughout the procession, the atmosphere was electrifying with supporters chanting slogans like ‘Modi, Modi’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. The rhythmic beating of drums added to the festive ambiance. As a gesture of overwhelming support, people showered flower petals along the route.
The Bengaluru South Lok Sabha seat has historically been a stronghold for the BJP. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Surya secured a landslide victory with a margin of 331,192 votes. He garnered 62 percent of the votes (739,229 votes), overpowering Congress candidate BK Hariprasad, who managed to secure 34.30 percent of the votes (408,037 votes).
Similarly, in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the seat was won by Ananth Kumar from BJP with a margin of 228,575 votes. He obtained 56.88 percent of the votes (633,816 votes), defeating Congress candidate Nandan Nilekani, who received 36.37 percent of the votes (405,241 votes).
Karnataka is gearing up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled to take place in two phases on April 26 and May 7.
The first phase will cover constituencies including Udupi Chikmagalur, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Mandya, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru North, Bengaluru Central, Bengaluru South, Chikkballapur, and Kolar.
The second phase will see polling in Chikkodi, Belgaum, Bagalkot, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bidar, Koppal, Bellary, Haveri, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Davanagere, and Shivamogga. UNI
