Beijing: China resolutely opposes the US decision to deploy medium-range ballistic missiles in the Asia-Pacific region, Defence Ministry spokesman Wu Qian said on Thursday.
Earlier this month, a US Army Pacific spokesperson told Sputnik that the United States is on track to deploy a medium-range missile system in the Asia-Pacific by the end of this year.
“We strongly oppose the deployment of US intermediate-range missiles in the Asia-Pacific region; this position is clear and consistent,” Wu told reporters, adding that this move seriously undermines regional peace and stability.
China will take decisive countermeasures, the official added.
