School Edu deptt fails to construct structures sanctioned during academic year 2019-20

Srinagar: The School Education department has miserably failed to construct any structure sanctioned for upgradation of schools to higher secondary schools of Jammu and Kashmir during the academic year 2019-20.

Official figures reveal that construction of at least 82 different structures was sanctioned by the government, however till date no work has been started in any component.

The official documents available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads that during 2019-20, the government had sanctioned construction of 12 schools that were supposed to be upgraded to higher secondary, however till date work has not been started in any school.

Meanwhile, the officials at Samagra Shiksha said that the construction in more than half of the sanctioned schools is under process and will be completed soon.

Official figures further reveal that the government in this academic year had sanctioned construction of 10 additional classrooms, but no work was started till date.

Likewise, the government had sanctioned 21 art and craft rooms for the higher secondary schools and the construction of all rooms is yet to get started.

The documents read that 13 computer rooms were also sanctioned by the government but no work for any room was started yet.

“Fifteen library rooms were also sanctioned, out of which construction in no room has been completed,” the official figures reveal.

The government during the academic year 2019-20 had also sanctioned 11 structures for construction of science labs and toilet blocks. Ironically, the construction is yet to be started in these structures as well—(KNO)
