Baramulla Admin Depriving Me from Contesting DDC polls, alleges Sajjad Shafi Uri

Admin Doing it On the Behest of External Forces’

Uri (Baramulla), Nov 21: (GNS) Jammu & Kashmir National Conference north-zone vice-president Sajjad Shafi Uri Saturday said that the district administration Baramulla has deprived him of contesting the upcoming District Development Council (DDC) polls.

“I have been deprived from contesting the upcoming DDC polls by the district administration Baramulla as my vote has been shifted to main Uri (Municipal limits) from my native village Garkote,” Sajjad said during a press conference at Uri.

He said that he was shocked to know that his vote has been shifted from Garkote to main Uri without his consent or knowledge. “The district administration Baramulla and local administration in Uri are now themselves in a fix in deciding from where should I contest the elections, ” he said.

Terming it a ‘sheer conspiracy’, Sajjad said that “When I have an Aadhar card, Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) of Garkote then who shifted my vote to main Uri for I have been voting from Garkote assembly only.”

He said he has approached the office of sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) Uri requesting him to shift his vote from Uri to Garkote constituency.

“Despite the municipal authorities and ward member giving it in the writing that I reside temporarily in main Uri, the SDM is not ready to admit it. After taking up the issue with the DC Baramulla, he too has rejected my plea,” he said.

Sajjad said that administration was doing this on the behest of some politically motivated forces. “They don’t want the educated youth to come forward and contest elections and instead give way to those people only who can become their puppets,” he said.

“I will approach the court to expose nefarious designs and do take this occasion to appeal the J&K LG and J&K Election Commissioner to enquire in this”, Sajjad said.

“If they want the DDC polls under the shades of such officers, we will be better boycotting it then,” Sajjad said.

Sajjad added that being a resident of border town they have been suffering a lot. “No official from the administration visited the people living along the LoC even in the fallout of recent cross-border shelling. Even no compensation has been given to any of the affected family but only doing lip service”.(GNS)
