New Delhi: Microsoft India on Wednesday announced its mixed reality smartglasses – HoloLens 2 is now available in the country.
“We are in a new era of computing, in which the digital world goes beyond two-dimensional screens and enters the three-dimensional world.
“HoloLens 2 helps businesses and their employees complete crucial tasks faster, safer, and more efficiently, and creates new ways to connect with customers and partners.
“It also addresses specific local industry challenges by enabling capabilities that help companies become more competitive and innovative at scale,” said Microsoft India Chief Operating Officer Rajiv Sodhi in a statement.
Microsoft HoloLens 2 is an untethered, self-contained holographic headset that allows users to leverage enterprise-ready mixed reality (MR) applications while working “heads-up” and “hands-free.”
According to Microsoft commissioned Forrester Total Economic Impact Study, the use of ‘HoloLens 2’ offered a 177 percent return on investment (ROI) over three years, as well as improvements to employee health and safety, business continuity, customer experience, and customer outcomes.
The wearable device can be used to enable remote maintenance and reduce downtime as well as improve worker productivity, accuracy, and upskilling in the manufacturing and automotive industry; facilitate training and simulations and remote consultations between experts in the healthcare sector, and in the education space it can drive better and faster learning outcomes through interactive experiences.
Mixed reality can be used to solve future business and industry challenges, like the skills gap can be bridged by enabling simulated on-the-job training and operations can be optimised through real-time insights and visual guidance.
Smart glasses when integrated with Mixed Reality Business Applications and both new and existing Azure services becomes a powerful device for both businesses and employees.
HoloLens 2 is available in India via commercial authorised resellers Softline and Team Computer.
