Giant asteroid to make close approach to Earth: NASA

Washington: A giant asteroid with height 1,600 feet is hurling towards Earth and will make a “close approach” on Sunday, NASA said. According to The Independent, the space rock, 388945 (2008 TZ3), is about 490m wide — bigger than New York’s Empire State Building, which is around 440m tall — and has been classified as a “potentially hazardous asteroid” due to its predicted close passes. The researchers have estimated that the asteroid of this size could cause a devastating damage if it hits Earth. However, the NASA scientists have said that the asteroid would pass by the planet at a distance of about 4 million km. UNI
