BRS chief announces Padma Rao Goud as Secunderabad candidate for LS poll

Hyderabad:  President of the Bharatiya Rashtriya Samithi (BRS) and former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) declared on Saturday that former Minister Padma Rao Goud will be the party’s candidate for the Secunderabad parliamentary constituency elections slated for May 13.

The decision regarding Goud’s candidature was reached after consulting with leaders from the constituency, confirming his nomination for the upcoming polls.

Goud, who previously served as a Congress Corporator until 1991, joined the BRS in 2001. He has held various positions within the party, including serving as the Hyderabad party President and winning as a BRS Corporator in 2002. Goud was elected as the Secunderabad BRS MLA in 2004 but faced defeat in the 2009 elections against Congress leader Marri Sashidhar Reddy. Following the formation of Telangana, Goud regained his position as the Secunderabad BRS MLA and served as the Excise Minister. He later held the position of Assembly Deputy Speaker after winning the MLA seat in the 2018 elections from the same constituency. Once again, he secured victory as the Secunderabad BRS MLA in the 2023 elections.

The BRS has now announced candidates for 14 parliamentary constituencies, with candidates for Bhuvanagiri, Nalgonda, and Hyderabad parliamentary seats yet to be revealed.

The candidates announced so far include RS Praveen Kumar from Nagarkurnool, Venkatrami Reddy from Medak, Manne Srinivas Reddy from Mahabubnagar, Vinod Kumar from Karimnagar, Koppula Eshwar from Peddapalli, Gali Anil Kumar from Zaheerabad, Nama Nageshwar Rao from Khammam, Kasani Gyaneshwar Mudiraj from Chevelle, Maloth Kavita from Mahabubabad, Ragidi Lakshmareddy from Malkazgiri, Atram Sakku from Adilabad, Bajireddy Govardhan from Nizamabad, and Kadiyam Kavya from Warangal.
