Sitting MDMK MP hospitalised in critical condition

Chennai: Mr A.Ganeshamurthy, sitting MDMK MP, has been admitted to a private hospital in a critical condition on Sunday evening.

The 77-year-old senior MDMK, who was elected from Erode Parliamentary Constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, complained of vomitting and was rushed to a hospital in Erode in an unconscious state.

After first aid, he was rushed to a private hospital in Coimbatore where his condition was said to be critical.

While TV channels reported that he had allegedly consumed some sleeping pills, there was no official word from the party. Even there was no formal complaint from his family members, police said, adding, they are investigating the matter.

Leaders of various political parties, including MDMK Principal Secretary Durai Vaiko, who is the son

of MDMK General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Vaiko, ruling DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Housing and Urban Development Minister S. Muthusamy, BJP Modakurichi MLA C.Saraswathi and former Minister K.V. Ramalingam of AIADMK, visited the MP at the hospital.

Mr Durai Vaiko said Mr Ganeshamurthy was put on ECMO support.
