US to seek vote next week on UN resolution to ban nuclear weapons in Space – White House

Washington: The United States early next week will request a vote on a United Nations Security Council resolution to ban nuclear weapons in space, White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby said on Thursday.
Last month, the United States and Japan proposed a UN Security Council resolution urging member states against developing any nuclear arms and other weapons of mass destruction that are specifically designed to be placed in space.
“We will be bringing this resolution to a vote in New York early next week … we look forward to Russia voting in favor of this resolution, there should be no reason why not to,” Kirby said during a press briefing.
