2 injured, 7 rescued after house collapses in Baramulla

Srinagar: Two people were injured after a house collapsed due to heavy rains in a border area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.

Officials said the seven people who were under the debris of the house were rescued by the locals and the joint teams.

The incident took place this evening at Bujhthala Boniyar in Uri.

“Joint teams of administration, police, and Army, along with locals, rescued seven persons trapped under debris after their house collapsed due to heavy rains,” an official said, adding the two persons injured in the incident were shifted to the nearest medical facility for treatment.

There was also a report of landslides in several parts of Kashmir due to the heavy rains.

For the last two days, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed incessant rainfall, resulting in flash floods and an inundation of roads that has led to the temporary closure of crucial highways.
